Cancun Numero Dos

Day Two // Chichen Itza and Mexican Food

Day two and we are off to see the ruins! And we were in for a shock when we stopped at the toll booth and the guy manning it said it was $20!!!  Huh!?!  Since when did tolls become so expensive. During our 3-hour trek we got a glimpse of the more rural parts of the city and it got us thinking, "If takes us 3 hours to drive there, how long did it take people back in the days to travel from city to city?" Hmmmm.

Do not let the gray clouds fool you because it was clear and sunny skies when we arrived at Chichen Itza, and in just five minutes I swear I was bathing in my own sweat despite the tube top and daisy dukes!  Disgusting, yes I know. But the ruins itself were an amazing sight. It always makes me wonder how the people were able to build structures of such enormous size with their limited machinery.

And it is finally time for some margaritas dinner! The Tequila Grill has a really fun decor and ambiance with a life-size dolled up skeletor welcoming guests in the front, little dolls hanging from the ceiling pretending to jump into your margarita for a bath, and even a horse that you could mount <---- that didn't sound right.  eM had a dry chicken burrito and chicken fajitas for me, both were tasty! Oh and the margaritas...! Speechless. And you can't tell from the pictures, but this place wasn't an actual restaurant but an area within a mall food court! Pretty good I must say.

Day Three // Xplor

This park was pretty badass with four main activities: ATVs, river swim, river canoeing, and ziplining.

Don't let our in-awe-sightseeing faces fool you, because eM is one maniac driver with ATVs. I thought I was going to die sitting next to him as the poor vehicle is trying to stay upright from his drifting. Men...[sighs and shakes head]

And of course it wouldn't be a trip without at least one sleeping picture. Poor eM, I had just asked him a question and fell asleep as he was answering. I woke up and said "Huh?" He laughs. Oh he loves me.

  1. The toll is so expensive! Haha, I bet they do it cause they know tourists have no choice but to pay it after travelling so far.
